IN THIS LESSON
begin with what you know
This lesson reviews how to use the information you know to complete the first, second, and possibly third generations on the Lineage page of your supplemental application. You should use your original verified member application to complete this information, then add any new information and proof documents needed. This lesson’s video reviews this step in detail.
You must also complete the References for Lineage page to cite the information you use from your member application for these first few generations. To do this, you cite your National Number, your original Patriot’s ancestor number, and your original Patriot’s name. This tells the DAR Genealogists where the information you entered is coming from. The citation would look like this:
NN 123456 A123456 Ephraim Jackson.
This citation would be listed on the References for Lineage page for each generation that uses information from your original application.
Citations are also reviewed in Step 7.
See Genealogy Guidelines Part 2, pages 67 and 77 for more information.
